Be captivated by the elegance of this cubic Himitsu-Bako secret box (3 Sun). A limited edition crafted by master Hiroyuki Oka, uniting noble natural woods with a fascinating 18-step hidden mechanism.
This secret box stands out with its perfect cubic geometry, a rare structure within the Himitsu-Bako tradition. The top and bottom panels are fashioned from fragrant Japanese camphor wood (Kusu). The central Yosegi pattern is not a superficially applied sheet, but a meticulous solid wood inlay. Framed by side panels of North American walnut and Southeast Asian agathis, every hue in this piece comes strictly from the natural wood—completely free of artificial coloring.
Honoring the legacy of the Edo and Meiji eras, this limited edition requires deliberate and mindful interaction. To reveal the hidden storage space inside, the solver must navigate an 18-step sequential mechanism utilizing 4 moving panels and 2 slide keys.
This enigma is handcrafted by Hiroyuki Oka. Following a ten-year apprenticeship, he has devoted over 20 years to mastering Yosegi-Zaiku and creating these captivating boxes full-time in his own workshop.
