Be captivated by the rich, contrasting aesthetics of this traditional 4-Sun Himitsu-Bako secret box. Handcrafted by master Hiroyuki Oka, blending exquisite Japanese marquetry with a subtle 14-step mechanism.
This secret box is a stunning tribute to the diversity of natural woods. The top panel is adorned with traditional Yosegi marquetry (with subtle pattern variations ensuring no two boxes are identical), while the bottom panel highlights the warmth of sliced natural walnut. The side panels feature an elegant Ichimatsu (checkerboard) pattern masterfully crafted from four distinct types of wood. The piece is built precisely to the traditional size of 4 Sun (a historical Japanese unit of measurement where 1 Sun equals approximately 3 centimeters).
Honoring the legacy of the Edo and Meiji eras, opening this box requires patience and deduction. To access its hidden storage compartment, the solver must execute 14 sequential movements using 3 sliding panels and 2 slide keys.
This enigma is handcrafted by Hiroyuki Oka. Following a ten-year apprenticeship, he has devoted over 20 years to mastering Yosegi-Zaiku and meticulously creating these captivating boxes in his own workshop.
