The Owl Shock By Yoh Kakuda

Nature’s Hiding Trick

The concept behind this puzzle box is both educational and amusing. In the wild, when certain owls are suddenly surprised or frightened, they elongate their bodies to appear incredibly thin. This natural reflex is meant to help them blend into tree branches and "disappear" from predators. Mimicking this exact stretching motion is the secret to unlocking the box.

A Decade of Design Evolution

Yoh Kakuda originally designed this piece as a special Christmas present in 2014. In April 2025, he revisited the concept to release this stunning updated version. The choice of premium woods has been upgraded, and the inlaid eyes have been redesigned to give the owl its distinctly startled, expressive look. The craftsman’s signature logo is elegantly placed on the underside of the talons.

A Joy to Solve

"The Owl Shock" is deliberately designed to be easy to open. It is a lighthearted, approachable puzzle that functions beautifully as a desk companion or a unique gift for a novice. Once the owl is "stretched," it reveals a small, hidden storage part.
