The Shachihoko is an imaginary creature from Japanese folklore, possessing the head of a dragon and the body of a fish. According to legend, when a building or house is on fire, the Shachihoko spews out water to extinguish the flames. Because of this power, they are traditionally placed on the roofs of Japanese castles as guardian gods.
Traditionally, the Shachihoko is always posed in high tension, with its tail thrust upwards. Craftsman Daiki Arimura shares his inspiration: "When I see him, I feel that he needs a rest because the pose must be hard for him to keep. Perhaps, he says 'I'm so tired... I want to stretch and take a rest...'". This empathetic thought is the exact reason this box was created.
The objective of this puzzle is to grant the guardian his wish. You must figure out how to loosen up his body and let him finally rest to reveal the small hidden storage part. Crafted from an impressive array of five premium woods (Keyaki, Maple, Wenge, Magnolia, and Cherry), this substantial piece serves as both a brainteaser and a striking work of art.
